Dimas Delgado is the third Captain of Western Sydney Wanderers and our first foreign Captain.
Like Beauchamp and Topor Stanley before him, Dimas deserves the honour of Captain.
If his early comments to the club are anything to go by, Dimas is well and truly ready for the challenge:
“I feel very, very good and I am so happy with this position and I am proud to be the captain of this fantastic club,” said Dimas.
“I think we can achieve great things this year, make it a great year for everyone. Hopefully we can win the league because the Club, the members and the fans deserve this.
“Being named captain is more than just putting on the armband. I think it is very important to be positive in all I do so I can give 100% service to the Club.
“For me the role is to help my mates on and off the field and of course to be here for the people – representing the Wanderers, not just the team but for the entire club.”
Great to hear from our new Captain, he is proud, ambitious and has presented himself as a Captain for the entire club.
With our new Captain secured, i only hope that Dimas will be around for a few years.
At this stage he is on a 1 year contract but with the armband it may both convince him to keep playing and maintain his high standards.
At age 33 you would like to think that Wanderers will be the club he retires from.
This in itself is a good move by Popa as it will keep Dimas hungry, this is after all his last chance to cover himself in glory.
With the A League season just beginning and another sortie to Asia on the horizon, Dimas has the opportunity to write his name all through the history books of our club.
And lets hope he does just that.
Vamos a ganar!
