Josep Gombau will likely be the next manager of Western Sydney Wanderers, whilst the media has reported that Ante Milicic is the favourite for the position, our information is different.
Ante’s family are settled in Croatia and it appears happy to remain there, a turning point could obviously be a bumper deal from the club but our sources have him being offered less than favourable terms.
Unless the club ups its offer to Ante significantly it appears he won’t be tempted away from his current lifestyle, let alone his job.
Far from the week in week out grind, he is able to work with Australia’s finest without the blowtorch being applied.
That burden is currently the burden of Ange, who himself could yet become our next manager if the rumours of him quitting regardless of progress vs Honduras are true.
If Ange is to quit the Socceroos post then the obvious replacements are Ante Milicic and Josep Gombau, both accomplished managers and coaches in their own right.
It looks increasingly possible that the other one will take the reins at Wanderers.
This in itself is a massive compliment to the stature of our club, but with our sources suggesting Ante will not take up the managers role, it looks increasingly clear that Hayden Foxe will be assistant to Josep Gombau at WSW.
Hayden has acquitted himself well in the 3 games he has overseen, lets be clear he was thrown in the deep end and if he can maintain his unbeaten record he will secure us a 1st FFA Cup Final, be it over 90, 120 minutes or penalties.
The last 2 matches have seen Josep in the stands, after our home and away clashes with Honduras, he will likely be prowling the touch line.
