Poll reveals fans wanted Gombau to stay

Yesterday on our facebook page we published a poll Was Gombau sacked prematurely? which in 23 hours has had over 1500 responses.

75% of respondents believed he should have been given more time, an overwhelming endorsement of the Spaniard who inherited a squad not of his own creation.

Whilst our results have been poor this season, surely Josep should have been given more time to put his stamp on the club, Tony Popovic was given a lot of leeway in his time at the club and the result seems a knee-jerk reaction from WSW.

The next boss is anyone’s guess, there have been rumours it will be an overseas manager and the former gaffer’s name is also in the mix.

Whoever comes in let’s hope the appointment is made soon and that contracts and marquees can be sorted out quickly.

Most fans would love Ikonomidis to stay at the club and the same is true of Riera and Santalab.

The longer we wait for a manager to be confirmed the more likely we will miss out securing our best players and the harder it will be for the team to gel to the new system before we next play in the FFA Cup this August.
